LBW History Chapter 6
This history is being written by John Purvis, the founder and sole remaining original member. My keyboard player, Paul Millradt, joined me 3 months after I started the band, (February, 2005) and has been with me ever since. From now on, this story may bounce around a bit with trivia, gigs, facts, sad times and fun times. For the first 2-2 1/2 years, Dan McCutchen (drums), Paul Millradt (keys), Joe Hursh (guitar, then bass), Victoria Hursh (lead vocals) and myself (guitar), made up the core of the band. Dave Pyle was our original bass player and sang 1/2 the vocals and harmony. Less than a year later Dave left and was replaced by Rob Johnson on bass. Rob was with us from August 29, 2006 to May 5, 2007. On May 5, 2007, LBW had a gig at the Buffalo Rose, it ended up being the last gig for Rob Johnson and Victoria Hursh, and the first gig for Ana Lisa Valle. Victoria sang for the first half of our gig and Ana Lisa sang the second half and became our new lead vocalist. After this gig, we said goodbye to Rob and Victoria and Joe decided that since we had two guitars, he would switch to bass. Ana Lisa had rehearsed with us only a few times before the Buffalo Rose gig, and we found her through Paul. Paul knew Ana Lisa from his church choir. Paul found out that Ana Lisa wanted to join a band, and was in a singing contest at an Irish Pub in downtown Denver. Dan and I went to the Pub twice to hear her sing and liked what we heard, so we offered her the job to sing lead for LBW. Fortunately, Rob and Victoria had given us enough notice that we could start prepping Ana Lisa before Victoria left. Shortly after we hired Ana Lisa, we auditioned some male singers for backup and lead vocals. Now we had a male and female lead singer which gave us a much wider range of songs we could perform. #historyofLBW#rockandroll#livemusicrocks#lookbothways#dancebandlookbothwaysband.com book us 720-333-4262 John Purvis.
